Belagavi: A controversy has broken out after visuals circulated on social media allegedly showing the daughter of a sitting Congress MLA travelling in a govt vehicle meant strictly for official use.The footage reportedly shows Trupti Kage, daughter of Kagawad MLA Bharamagouda (Raju) Kage, using a govt vehicle in Chikodi town. Raju Kage is also the chairman of the North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC). As per established norms, govt vehicles are designated exclusively for official duties and public service-related travel by elected representatives, not for the personal use of their family members. The matter came to light after locals recorded the visuals and shared them online, where they quickly went viral. The incident sparked sharp reactions, with many questioning the alleged misuse of public resources for personal convenience while ordinary citizens are expected to strictly adhere to rules.MLA Raju Kage dismissed the allegations of wrongdoing. He clarified that the vehicle was returning empty to Belagavi to pick him up from Kagawad via Chikodi, as he was travelling back from Bengaluru. “Since the vehicle was anyway heading to Belagavi, my daughter, who was also travelling there, came in the vehicle. What is wrong with that?” he said.
