Over a dozen Congress corporators staged a dharna on the stretch, accusing the BJP-led HDMC of negligence and inefficiency. They even performed a symbolic puja on the pothole-ridden road, alleging that maladministration had turned it into a nightmare for citizens. Meanwhile, BJP corporators, led by Tippanna Majjagi, Iresh Anchatgeri, and Shivu Hiremath, hit back, arguing that the road was not under HDMC but was maintained by the public works department (PWD). They contended that it was the Congress-led state govt that had failed to release funds for repairs. “It is a welcome move that Congress corporators are protesting against their own govt for not fixing the road,” the BJP members quipped. Anchatageri thanked the Congress corporators for raising the voice for a cause.
