Codava National Council urges govt to recognise Talacauvery as pilgrimage centre

Madikeri: The Codava National Council (CNC) has called upon the govt to recognise Talacauvery as a pilgrimage centre.In a press statement, CNC president NU Nachappa said the rituals of the Kodava community members are deeply rooted in the worship of their sacred deity. “A memorandum has been submitted to the President, Prime Minister, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, demanding that the govt recognise Talacauvery as a holy site for the Kodava community,” he stated.“To safeguard the river’s permanent water resources, maintain its spiritual sanctity, and preserve its biodiversity, the state and the Union govts should declare River Cauvery a living entity with the legal rights of a person,” he urged.
