Mangaluru: The Mangaluru ‘Pura Pravesha’ of Sri Vedavardhana Thirtha of Shiroor Mutt, who will be ascending the Sarvajna Peetha of Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt, will be held at the Rajangana of Sri Mahaganapathi Temple, Urwa Store, on Sunday.Udupi Shiroor Paryaya reception committee honorary president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura told reporters on Friday, that the committee’s Mangaluru branch will make preparations to welcome the seer to the city.“For the first time, Sri Vedavardhana Thirtha Swamiji, who is presently on the Paryaya ‘poorvabhavi sanchara’, will make his ceremonial entry into Mangaluru at the Sri Mahaganapati Temple at 4 pm on Sunday. At the temple premises, the seer will be accorded a traditional welcome with Purna Kumbha by the devotees. Later, the seer will visit homes of devotees, temples, and educational institutions, as part of the sanchara from Sunday to Jan 8. He will bless devotees during his visits,” Kalkura said.A civic reception on behalf of the people of Mangaluru will be offered to the seer at Sharda Vidyalaya, Kodialbail on Jan 8. Prior to the civic reception, the seer will be taken in a grand procession from Sri Sharavu Sri Mahaganapati Temple in the city to the programme venue.Devotees who wish to offer Padapuja and Guru Vandana during the seer’s visit to the city may contact the organisers. Devotees from various parts of Mangaluru, Kasaragod, and Kateel will offer hore kanike for the Paryaya festival, and it will reach Mulki on Jan 15, he said.Committee honorary president MB Puranik was present. Sri Vedavardhana Thirtha Swamiji will ascend the Sarvajna Peetha for the first time on Jan 18, marking the commencement of his two-year term of performing Sri Krishna puja at the Udupi Sri Krishna Mutt.
