Tabla artist honoured with Pt. Yeshwanth Acharya Gaurav Samman

MANGALURU: In a ceremony celebrating the confluence of musical virtuosity and artistic heritage, the tabla maestro, Yashwant Vaishnav, was honoured with the Pt. Yeshwanth Acharya Gaurav Samman at the ITC Mini Sangeet Sammelan, held at the Ramakrishna Math in Mangaluru, recently.The award, established in memory of the late musician and artist Pt. Yeshwanth Acharya, was presented by two titans of Indian classical music, including Padmashri Pt Ulhas Kashalkar and Taalyogi Pt Suresh Talwalkar.Pt. Yeshwanth Acharya Gaurav Samman is an initiative by the Chiranthana Charitable Trust and holds deep significance for the Mangaluru community. Pt. Yeshwanth Acharya was a revered tabla player and Guru, a dedicated disciple of Ustad Shamshuddhin Khan Saheb, and an accomplished portrait artist who graduated from J J Art School Mumbai.Pt. Acharya spent his final days under the care of the Chiranthana Home for Geriatric Health Care at Surathkal, Mangalore, before his passing on Sept 7 this year. The Samman thus serves as a poignant tribute, linking artistic excellence with the Trust’s mission of compassionate care.Dignitaries present at the felicitation included Bharavi Deraje, Managing Trustee of Chiranthana Charitable Trust, G S Hegde from Sapthak Bengaluru, alongside members of Pt. Acharya’s family.
