Madikeri: Deputy commissioner Venkat Raja launched the ‘Your Money is Your Right’ awareness camp on Monday to enable the owners or legal heirs of deposits and insurance premiums that have been lying in the bank for a long time to get their money back.After launching the awareness campaign held at the ZP hall, Madikeri, the DC suggested that more awareness should be created by informing the customers who have not taken their money and insurance premiums in the bank for a long time due to various reasons. In Kodagu district, there is about Rs 33 crore in the bank accounts of 1.4 lakh people for a long time, and their heirs can get their money back. In that regard, Raja suggested that every customer should be provided with information.ZP CEO Anand Prakash Meena said the money in the bank account that has been inactive for more than 10 years and the unclaimed deposit will be transferred to the DEAF fund by RBI. Therefore, the legal heirs of the customers concerned can get the money back at any time. He suggested that awareness should be created everywhere in this regard.He explained that the customers should take advantage of the camp with their identity documents along with the eligibility letter.Nisha, assistant general manager of RBI, said that as per the guidelines of the ministry of finance of India, an awareness programme will be held for the legal heirs in all bank, insurance, and other departmental branches till Dec 31. She said that this camp has been organised to get back the financial assets that have not been claimed for a long time.On this occasion, some depositors received money into their accounts online. Gangadhar Nayak, district manager of Margadarshi Bank, spoke about the importance of the ‘Your Money, Your Right’ camp. The poster on ‘Your Money, Your Right’ was released in the camp.
