Boy dressed as girl for stunt show rescued

Koppal: A 10-year-old boy, who was performing stunts while dressed as a girl at Sri Gavisiddeshwar Jatra, was rescued by officials from the District Child Protection Unit (DSPU) on Tuesday.To draw attention at the fair, the boy’s parents had dressed him in girl’s attire to perform stunts like tightrope walking. A nomadic family from Madhya Pradesh traditionally performs these stunts for a living. The videos showcasing the stunts “of the girl” had gained traction on social media.After seeing the videos, DSPU officials carried out a raid, and rescued the “girl”. When they went to admit her to the girls’ Balamandir (girls’ home), they realised that the child was a boy. During the registration process (while filling form No. 17) at Balamandir, the child’s parents revealed the truth. They stated that the boy was dressed as a girl to attract a larger audience and get good money through “her” stunts.Subsequently, the authorities transferred the boy to a boys’ Balamandir. The rescued boy will soon be sent to his parents’ hometown.
