Bengaluru: BJP MP and former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai accused CM Siddaramaiah of using internal reservation for “vote bank politics” while ignoring Supreme Court orders and key commission reports. He said his party would “fight to ensure justice” for communities deprived of benefits.”The govt arbitrarily allocated SC quota… Nomadic communities were recommended 1%, but the govt prioritised vote bank politics over justice,” Bommai alleged. He said several communities, including Adi Andhra, Adi Karnataka, and Adi Dravida, were excluded from internal reservation groupings, while Lambani, Bhovi, and others were included for political reasons.”Siddaramaiah should apologise. You opposed our quota hike but are now using it for internal reservation. Instead of token packages, give permanent justice,” Bommai demanded.”Our demand is to accept the Nagamohan Das report, give an additional 1% to nomads, review Lambani and Bhovi quotas, and ensure justice for EK, ED, AA groups. Internal reservations should reflect in education and recruitment. We will go to court if the govt fails to act,” the MP warned.Govt dividing Christians into sub-castes: BJPBJP has alleged that the Congress govt created nonexistent castes within the Christian community for its proposed caste census and urged the administration to study the genealogy of the religious group.BJP minority morcha state president Anil Thomos alleged Saturday that the govt had adopted the bad policy of dividing the Christian community. The Kantharaj commission had earlier listed 44 sub-castes within the community, and now the number jumps to 52.”The govt categorises Christians as Kuruba Christian, Brahmin Christian, Vokkaliga Christian, and Ediga Christian. The govt is introducing a caste system in the religion. There are hundreds of denominations. We have no castes; we have denominations,” he said.
