Body of missing woman found after 8 days; probe confirms murder

Kalaburagi: The body of a young woman was found eight days after she went missing, on Friday. Investigation confirmed that she was murdered.The incident occurred in a canal near Solar Garden of Ultratech Cement Factory under Malkheda police station in Sedam taluk. The deceased was identified as Bhagyashree Channaveera Soolahalli, 20, a resident of Malakheda.Manjunath from the same village was arrested as the main accused and is currently being questioned, police said. Accused Manjunath’s brother, Vinod, who worked in the factory, died by suicide after consuming poison last August after failing to secure a permanent job.Manjunath suspected that Channaveer, the father of the deceased and a labour union leader, was responsible for Vinod’s suicide. Manjunath allegedly killed Channaveer’s daughter, Bhagyashree, as an act of revenge. The young woman went missing on Sept 11, and the family filed a complaint on Sept 12.It was later confirmed that the body found near the factory’s canal was that of Bhagyashree. Police have arrested Manjunath and received information that three others assisted him. They will be taken into custody soon, said SP Adduru Srinivasulu.
