Bidar: A cheque bounce case was registered against Basavakalyan BJP MLA Sharanu Salagar for allegedly not returning the money. Sanjukumar Sugure, a resident of Jai Shankar Colony in Basavakalyan city, filed a complaint, and on the order of the ACJM court in Bengaluru, Basavakalyan city police registered the case on Saturday.Sanjukumar said in his complaint that he gave a loan to Sharanu Salagar during the 2023 assembly polls, totalling Rs 99 lakh. The MLA promised to return it within six months, but he did not return it, the complaint alleged.The complaint mentioned that the complainant gave loans to Salagar many times, and Sharanu returned them on time. Both the complainant and Salagar are relatives, and on this belief, the loan was given, the complaint stated.A panchayat was held in front of the seniors of their community, where Salagar gave a cheque assuring repayment. However, when the cheque was deposited in the bank, it was found that the account was closed.A case was registered at Basavakalyana police station under sections 74, 109, 314(4), 318, 351, and 352 of BNS, and the investigation is going on.
