Mark Cuban has good news for employees of companies who are adopting artificial intelligence (AI). The billionaire founder and Shark Tank US judge has predicted that companies adopting AI can reduce employees’ working hours while maintaining the same pay, as AI tools improve productivity and automate routine tasks. Sharing his view on X, Cuban suggested that organisations may begin formally shortening the workday as AI agents become more integrated into workflows. He added that while remote work has already blurred traditional schedules, companies could introduce structured policies that cut working hours by at least five hours a week, framing it as a shift in how organisations reward productivity.Sharing his view on the microblogging site X (formerly Twitter), Cuban wrote, “Smart, bigger companies will enable their employees to create and use agents (within security guardrails ), improve their productively but MOST IMPORTANTLY, they will reduce their work day by an hour to start. Same pay. Reward people doing the daily with more time. I get WFH kind of dilutes that. But it’s a step that sets the tone in a company.”
Why Mark Cuban wants business leaders to adopt AI immediately
Earlier this year, Cuban warned business leaders to adopt AI right away, saying companies that fail to do so risk falling behind. Speaking on a call with Clipbook founder Adam Joseph, Cuban outlined how organisations may either adapt to AI or struggle as its use expands.“There’s going to be two types of companies: those who are great at AI, and everybody else. And the ‘everybody else’ is going to fail because AI is such a transformative tool,” Cuban said, according to Business Insider.He added that company leaders need to understand how AI tools work in detail, rather than treating them as interchangeable solutions.Cuban also said that “AI is stupid. But it’s somebody who’s a savant who remembers everything.” He said that AI systems are like people with great memories because they can quickly process a lot of information, but they might not fully understand context or creativity.He said that even though things are still changing, AI use is still in its early stages. Cuban also said that using AI tools incorrectly could be dangerous, especially if employees use regular versions of platforms like ChatGPT without any safety measures. This could expose private company information, he warned.
