Bengaluru: Sleuths from the anti-narcotics wing of Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested seven drug peddlers in five cases, including two Nigerians, a software engineer and a dental student. They recovered drugs — 3.8kg of MDMA crystals, 41 grams of ecstasy pills and over 1.8kg of hydroganja — worth almost Rs 10 crore.Hydroganja found in techie’s carKerala native Kevin Roger, 30, a resident of Kalyan Nagar in east Bengaluru, was arrested and 500 grams of hydroganja were recovered from him near Benniganahalli railway station in Pai Layout on Sept 18. Kevin had hidden the drugs in his Toyota Innova. During interrogation, he confessed to have worked in a private firm and, despite earning a good salary, he wanted to lead a more lavish life. To make money quickly, he chose drug peddling. A consumer himself, Kevin contacted other peddlers and sourced hydroganja from Kerala at a lower price to sell it to students, techies and party lovers. He would target parties at pubs during weekends.Dental student sold hydroganjaDental student Ranjith Antony Mathew, 33, a resident of 15th Cross, Lakkasandra, was arrested on Sept 19 after police raided his house and recovered around 300 grams of hydroganja. Ranjith said he sold drugs to make quick money and lead a luxurious life. He had contacts with the same peddlers from whom Kevin used to source drugs. Two Nigerians heldPolice caught two Nigerians in Hebbagodi on Sept 25. Thomas Navid Chime alias Toure Sekou alias Gbeho Emmanuel, 42, came to India on a medical visa in 2019. His compatriot Ngwu Kingsley Chukwuemeka alias Guilavogui Pascal, 32, was in India since 2019 on a student visa. The duo purchased MDMA crystals and ecstasy pills at low prices from peddlers in Delhi and sold them in Bengaluru. Thomas was arrested in 2002 under NDPS Act. Ngwu was arrested for alleged involvement in cyber fraud and has two cybercrime cases registered against him in Gujarat.
