Bengaluru: A 20-year-old student was arrested and released on station bail after allegedly filming a 30-year-old woman while she was bathing at her residence in Rajajinagar.The incident occurred around 11pm on Sept 12 when the woman, who operates a provision store, returned home and went to take a bath. While drawing hot water from the geyser, she received a phone call and briefly stepped out into the hall. Upon returning to the bathroom, she discovered a peeping Tom holding a mobile phone and recording her through the ventilation window.The offender fled after she shouted at him. Alert neighbors saw a youth from the same lane running toward his house, leading to suspicions about his involvement in the incident.Police registered a case of voyeurism and invoked provisions of the Information Technology Act. Investigations led police to the student residing near the woman’s house. Authorities confirmed that no other videos were found on his device, and the footage was deleted. The mobile phone has been seized and sent to the forensic science laboratory for examination.The youth’s parents informed police that their son suffers from mental illness and is currently receiving treatment, providing medical records as evidence. A senior police officer confirmed the arrest.
