Bengaluru: The much-demanded rail speed upgradation of the stretch between Yelahanka in north Bengaluru and Dharmavaram in southern Andhra Pradesh to 130 kmph will be completed by March. The 161-km corridor is expected to benefit several high-occupancy trains, including the Yeswantpur–Kacheguda Vande Bharat Express. The upgrade will be a relief to passengers who have long hoped for faster connectivity to Andhra Pradesh. It will also enable superfast trains on the route to run to their full potential.
With the Bengaluru-Jolarpettai section already supporting 130 kmph speed, the South Western Railways (SWR) zone also plans upgrade between KSR Bengaluru and Sampige Road, and Chikkabanavara–Hassan sections, to support the same speed later this year.
