Mysuru: Both Gruha Lakshmi beneficiaries and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) in Mysuru district are awaiting the release of three months’ pending dues from the state govt. ASHA workers, who handle as many as 36 responsibilities under the health and family welfare department, have not received their remuneration for Sep, Nov, and Dec 2025. With a fixed monthly honorarium of Rs 5,000, ASHA workers largely depend on performance-based incentives to meet their daily expenses.According to Sandhya PS, president of the ASHA Workers Federation, Mysuru district, around 1,800 ASHA workers are affected by the delay. She led a protest on Thursday in front of the zilla panchayat, urging authorities to release the pending incentives at the earliest.“ASHA workers are entrusted with 36 services, including care of pregnant women, vaccination drives, and other public health responsibilities. Incentives vary based on monthly performance, and on average, workers earn around Rs 4,000 per month through these payments. With the fixed honorarium being just Rs 5,000, the delay is causing hardship,” she said. She added that ASHA workers are already functioning under multiple constraints. “One of the reasons cited for the delay is errors in data entry, for which workers are not responsible. The authorities concerned must address this issue immediately,” she urged.Meanwhile, beneficiaries of the Gruha Lakshmi scheme are also waiting for three months’ dues. Beneficiaries said they received Rs 2,000 per month until Sept, but payments for Oct, Nov, and Dec are still pending. The govt should ensure that beneficiaries are not made to wait beyond two months for the assistance. Most beneficiaries belong to economically and socially weaker sections, and regular disbursement is essential, they said. However, office bearers of the guarantee committee indicated that the state govt is likely to release the pending amounts in the next few days.
