Hubballi: The major grouse of Anand Nagar residents is the deterioration of the road from Siddharudha Mutt entrance to Gurunath Nagar — large piles of waste lie by the roadside, and the absence of footpaths. The road, developed as a cement concrete (CC) stretch just two years ago, has turned worse due to the alleged negligence on the part of civic officials.According to locals, Anand Nagar and surrounding colonies are located about 7km from the city centre. The area, established around 30 years ago, has expanded significantly. The road is one of the busiest stretches in the city, connecting Manjunath Nagar, Gokul Road, Jayadeva Hospital, and other areas. Around four years ago, it deteriorated completely, prompting the authorities to concretise it in 2023. However, it has not been maintained properly.Manoj Kumar, a resident of Gurunath Nagar, said: “The road connecting Anand Nagar to Manjunath Nagar was completely damaged. Even after concretisation, it is not maintained properly. Though waste is dumped regularly, civic officials have not taken any action to remove the same. The pavers used in between the road are damaged, causing problems for motorists. HDMC should take appropriate action to address the issues here,” he urged.Prashant M H, a resident of Anand Nagar, said: “Cattle and dogs wander on the road to feed on the waste dumped there. Pavers used for the CC road have deteriorated.”Laxmi Kamble, HDMC zonal assistant commissioner, said: “I have not noticed any garbage dumping on the side of the Anand Nagar road. Soon, action will be taken to clear the garbage, if any, dumped. The health inspector will be put on the job. Beautification is our first priority,” she said.
