Mangaluru: Police registered a case against activist Jayanth T for allegedly spreading false information on YouTube regarding an externment order issued against Rashtriya Hindu Jagarana Vedike president and activist Mahesh Shetty Thimarody.Police said that despite knowing the truth, Jayanth spread false news on YouTube, claiming that the Bantwal deputy superintendent of police submitted a proposal to the Puttur assistant commissioner for Mahesh Shetty Thimarody’s externment as part of a conspiracy to hinder pro-Sowjanya protests. Through the video, he allegedly portrayed the lawful administrative process as a deliberate plot, police said.Accordingly, a case was registered at Belthangady police station under Section 353(1)(b) of the BNS. Police said an investigation is underway.It may be recalled that Puttur assistant commissioner Stella Varghese issued an externment order against Thimarody, directing him to stay away from Dakshina Kannada for one year. He was ordered to move to Raichur during this period. The assistant commissioner issued an order in this regard based on a report from police. Notice to MattannavarBelthangady police have served a notice on activist Girish Mattannavar, asking him to appear before the investigation officer in connection with his recent media statement. Mattannavar made a statement before the media outside Belthangady police station, referring to the case registered against Thimarody. Mattannavar allegedly said Thimarody did not flee anywhere, and also claimed to have spoken to him. He also allegedly blamed police for not being able to trace Thimarody.
