Mangaluru: Bajpe police arrested eight persons, in connection with a case of sexual assault of a minor, as well as circulating a video on a social media platform, recently. Of the eight arrested, two were involved in the sexual assault of the minor girl in the last week of June.The accused are Karthik, Rakesh, Jeevan, Sandeep, Rakshith, Shravan, Suresh, and a minor boy. While Karthik and Rakesh are accused of sexually assaulting the survivor.Police said that the accused, Karthik, met the survivor on social media platform Instagram, and they were chatting for some time. In June, he reportedly took the minor girl, a student, to a waterfall and allegedly sexually assaulted her there. She was also allegedly sexually assaulted by Rakesh. Karthik is accused of recording a 30-second video and sharing the same with friends. Following this, a case was registered under provisions of Pocso, sexual assault, and various sections of the IT Act.
