7 more special deputy commissioners to hear land cases in Bengaluru Urban district

Bengaluru: The govt appointed seven more special deputy commissioners to ensure timely disposal of pending land dispute cases in Bengaluru Urban district.There were 7,460 pending cases in Bengaluru Urban district magistrate’s court as of May 2023. In the last two years, 3,729 cases were disposed of. However, during the same period, 1,545 new ones were filed. Currently, 5,276 cases are pending, with an average of 143 resolved each month, revenue minister Krishna Byre Gowda’s office said in a release. Senior IAS officers Ramesh KN, HN Gopalakrishna, Mullai Muhilan MP, Arundhati Chandrashekhar, Selvamani, Honnamba and Vidyakumari have been appointed special DCs to attend to the cases. Additionally, SN Balachandra and Archana have been serving as special DCs. With these new appointments, the total number of special DCs has increased to nine.
