49 tons of fertiliser stored without licence seized

Mandya: Agricultural officials seized 49.6 tons of fertiliser valued at Rs 49.6 lakh that was stored without a valid licence in Mandya city.The inspection was carried out on Sept 29 by a joint team comprising Devaraju, deputy director of Bengaluru Vigilance Cell; Mamata HN, deputy director of agriculture (office of the joint director of agriculture, Mysuru sub-division); Yadav Babu, assistant director of agriculture; Sunitha, assistant director of agriculture, Mandya taluk; and Channakeshavamoorthy H, district fertiliser inspector (enforcement wing).During the raid, officials discovered and seized unlicenced biostimulant fertilisers. The seized stock lacked mandatory G2/G3 certification, officials stated.Speaking to TOI, Channakeshavamoorthy said, “Based on credible information, we conducted the raid and seized 49.6 tons of fertiliser stored without a valid licence. In earlier operations, fertilisers worth Rs 10 lakh were also seized. Timely renewal of licences is crucial to prevent such violations.”
