3 Nepali suspects held, stolen gold jewellery recovered

Chikkamagaluru: Chikkamagaluru police arrested three Nepali suspects in connection with the burglary at the residence of former minister HG Govindegowda and recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 1.5 crore. Cops also seized two cars used in the crime.Rajendra Sher Bai, 30, a resident of Dhangadhi, Kailali district, Nepal, Ekendra Kutal Badwal, 31, a resident of Dhangadhi, Kailali district, Nepal, and Karam Singh Bahadur Damadi, Nepal, were apprehended on charges of involvement in the burglary. Based on a scientific investigation across various dimensions and with the cooperation of Maharashtra police, Koppa police arrested the three suspects in Sangli, Maharashtra, late on Friday.The police recovered property worth Rs 1.75 crore from the arrested accused. About 1 kg 800gm of gold jewellery valued at approximately Rs 1.5 crore, silver jewellery weighing 1 kg 200gm, and two cars worth Rs 25 lakh were seized from them.On Aug 21, around 2.55am, burglars stole Rs 6 lakh in cash and gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 37,50,000 from the house of HG Venkatesh, at Manipur Estate in Haranduru village, under the jurisdiction of Koppa police station.Following the incident, Koppa police registered a case and launched an investigation.Chikkamagaluru superintendent of police Vikram Amate formed two teams to crack the case and arrested the suspects.Police said a couple joined Manipur Estate as daily wage labourers and plotted plans. When the owner of the estate was out of station, the gang looted the house.The SP commended and announced rewards for all police officers and personnel in the team led by additional superintendent of police CT Jayakumar for cracking the case.The SP advised the residents to keep valuables in safe lockers at home or use the bank locker facilities. He also appealed to the residents to alert the nearest police station when leaving home locked for an extended period. He also asked residents to verify the background of workers before hiring and provide their information to the police.
