16 revenue officials booked as digitisation drive lifts lid on 5-year Anekal land scam in Bengaluru Urban

Bengaluru: Bengaluru Urban district administration, during the ongoing digitisation drive, has blown the lid off a massive land scam in Anekal taluk. As many as 16 FIRs were filed against revenue officials accused of forging records and colluding with land grabbers to siphon off govt land Friday. Deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha confirmed that all the FIRs are connected to a coordinated and long-running fraud scheme. Those implicated include deputy tahsildar Chandrashekar BK, Shirastedars Maruti Prasad, Dinakaran G, and Lokesh S; clerical staff Mahesh, Mangala, Narayana, K Raghavendra, and Manjunath MV; as well as Group D employees Kalpana P, Manjunath, Shobha N, Praveen, Muniraju, Manjulamma, and Meenakshi. The fraud was uncovered while scanning land records under the land protection scheme. Officials discovered fake entries in govt files, including grant records, cultivation permits, distribution registers, ILRR documents, Inam DC orders, and land reform files.According to a report by the Anekal tahsildar, these fraudulent entries appear to have been inserted over the past five years.Jagadeesha stated that a “systematic network” of private individuals also helped produce forged documents, indicating that criminal cases would be pursued against them as well. He directed all special tahsildars to obtain prior approval before making any entries related to govt land in revenue records.
