11 illegal buildings set to be razed in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: After several warnings to curb rampant building violations, Bengaluru East city corporation (BECC) has begun demolishing 11 illegal structures that were found with major deviations from approved plans.According to the additional commissioner (development), a building in Whitefield with multiple illegal floors is currently under demolition. “Work is progressing slowly as the demolition is being carried out manually,” the official said.East corporation recently conducted a survey of over 600 under-construction buildings and issued notices under Karnataka Town and Country Planning Act, 1961. While many cases are still being heard or delayed after court issued stay orders, the 11 identified buildings were cleared of legal hurdles, allowing demolition work to proceed.
