Koppal: A dispute between two seers at the Anjanadri Hill temple in Gangavathi taluk on Dec 23 nearly escalated into a physical brawl. Meanwhile, a video of the fight has gone viral, drawing public condemnation for the behaviour of both men.Temple priest Vidyadas Baba and Govindananda Saraswati Swami of Hampi clashed near the sanctum sanctorum of the Lord Hanuman shrine in the presence of Gangavathi Rural police. Eyewitnesses said Vidyadas Baba got angry as soon as he saw Govindananda Saraswati Swami, who arrived at the temple on Tuesday. Vidyadas Baba was upset that Govindananda Saraswati Swami, who earlier conducted a rath yatra to install a huge Anjaneya idol, was disrupting the temple’s worship rituals.An argument broke out between the two seers, and abusive words were exchanged. Gangavathi police present at the scene tried to pacify both men, but their efforts failed. At one point, the two attempted to physically assault each other inside the temple premises, leaving devotees shocked.After the incident, Vidyadas Baba filed a complaint with Gangavathi Rural police station, alleging that Govindananda Saraswati Swami disrupted the worship service and attempted to assault him. Police have launched an investigation and have not made any arrests.
