Pic: Vinaya Vakkunda speaks to mediaBelagavi: The Betageri Krishnasharma Trust has announced its awards for the years 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25, honouring six achievers, including three recipients of the youth literature award category. Poet HS Shivaprakash, scholar G Ramakrishna, and story writer BT Janhavi are among the awardees.The Trust will present lifetime achievement literary awards in the categories of poetry, philosophy, journalism, and short stories for a period of three years, from 2023 to 2025, said Vinaya Vakkunda, Trust president, Sunday.Renowned poet HS Shivaprakash will be conferred the 2023 poetry award, while G Ramakrishna shall receive the 2024 ideological and journalistic award, and the 2025 Katha Award will be given to renowned story writer BT Janhavi, she said. In the Youth Literature Award category, K Akshata (2023), Wilson Kateel (2024), and Arif Raja (2025) have been selected, she said.The awards ceremony will be held on Nov 11 at 1am at Kumar Gandharva Theatre in Belagavi. District minister Satish Jarkiholi is scheduled to inaugurate the programme and present the awards. MLA Asif Sait, foundation president YV Himmadi, joint director of the Kannada and culture department KH Channur, and Hanumant Patil will be the chief guests.Venkatagiri Dalwai, HOD of Kannada literary studies, Kannada University, Hampi, and Anusuya Kamble, professor of Dr RC Hiremath Chair of Studies, Karnataka University, will deliver the congratulatory speech, and Vakkunda shall preside over the event.Deputy director of the Kannada & culture department Vidyavati Bhajantri and YB Himmadi were present.
