Taluk hospitals to get specialist doctors to reduce maternal deaths: Minister

Shivamogga: Health minister Dinesh Gundu Rao announced on Sunday that the state govt is taking necessary steps to address maternal mortality cases on priority. Gynaecologists and anaesthetists will be deployed in all taluk hospitals. After the winter session, two gynaecologists, paediatricians, and obstetricians will be appointed in taluk hospitals, he said.Speaking to the media here, he said maternal deaths will be reduced. “Appointments will be made after the winter session. The goal is to bring down maternal deaths from 58% to 40% by 2028,” he said.“Each maternal death will be audited, and disciplinary actions are being taken against those responsible. If action is taken against all doctors, none will be left to work,” the minister stated. NHM staff appointments will be discussed in the session. He said a vaccine for monkeypox is being tested and will be made available next year. This year, measures will be taken to control KFD (Kyasanuru Forest Disease).Meanwhile, Dinesh Gundu Rao claimed that the state govt is administering well and good governance will continue. Chief minister Siddaramaiah has kept his promises, and guarantee schemes are being implemented, he said. The minister claimed opposition parties are making allegations intentionally.Taking a dig at Union minister HD Kumaraswamy, Gundu Rao said Kumaraswamy speaks with limited knowledge and all his allegations are far from the truth and without substantiation.
