Mysuru: The preamble of our Indian Constitution, which fosters the awareness that we’re all one, must reach every household, said HC Mahadevappa, minister for social welfare and Mysuru district in-charge.He was speaking after unveiling a plaque of the Constitution’s preamble at the Town Hall premises in Mysuru on Saturday. The programme was jointly organised by the district administration, zilla panchayat, social welfare department, and Mysuru City Corporation. Mahadevappa stressed the importance of instilling constitutional values in society. “The preamble reminds us that we are Indians and the true inheritors of this land,” he said.“After assuming charge as minister, I made it compulsory for schools and colleges to read the preamble daily. Now, with a large plaque installed in a prime location of Mysuru, this awareness will further deepen,” he said.“Attempts are being made to undermine the Constitution, but such efforts will never succeed,” the minister stated. “Dalits and the oppressed must unite to strengthen Ambedkar’s ideology through education, organisation, and struggle. Only when the preamble reaches every household will we realise that as Indians, we are all one,” he said.Sri Jnana Prakash Swamiji hailed the initiative as a proud moment for Mysuru. “The preamble embodies equal respect for all religions and serves as the protective shield of our nation. It is rightly displayed in schools, colleges, and hostels. Every family should also display it at home,” he said. He recalled the vision of Dr BR Ambedkar, who gave India the preamble with the message that all Indians are brothers and sisters and laid the foundation for equality.Pushpa Amarnath, state vice-president of the guarantee scheme; legislative council members, K Shivakumar and CN Manjegowda; district president of the guarantee scheme Arun Kumar; former mayor Purushottam; deputy commissioner G Lakshmikant Reddy; ZP chief executive officer S Ukesh Kumar were present.
