Bidar: Goods in nine hardware shops, one footwear shop, and one grocery shop in front of Aurad bus stand in Bidar district were gutted past midnight on Friday. Locals summoned fire personnel soon after learning about the incident around 1am. They told Aurad tahsildar Mahesh Patil that though the fire engine reached the spot within half-an-hour, there was no water in it — “it just could not extinguish the fire”. Tahsildar Patil, CPI Raghveerasingh Thakur, and fire officials inspected the spot.
