NMC invites applications for new PG medical courses, standalone institutes, seat increase for 2026-27: Check details

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has invited online applications for starting new Post Graduate (PG) medical courses, setting up new standalone PG medical institutions, and increasing seats in existing PG courses for the academic year 2026-27.The notice has been issued by the Medical Assessment and Rating Board, New Delhi. Applications will be accepted only through the online portal available on the official NMC website, according to the official notice.

NMC PG courses application 2026-27: Important dates

  • Application start date: March 2, 2026
  • Last date to apply: March 31, 2026
  • Deadline time: 11:59 PM

Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

Who can apply

Applications can be submitted for:

  1. Starting new PG medical courses in an existing medical college
  2. Establishing a new standalone PG medical institution
  3. Increasing seats in existing PG medical courses

Only online applications submitted through the NMC portal will be considered.Key instructions for applicants

  • Medical colleges and institutions must follow all rules, regulations, guidelines, and notices issued by NMC
  • All required documents must be uploaded in PDF format
  • Applications without complete documents or information will be rejected without further communication
  • Institutions must be fully ready with infrastructure and faculty at the time of application

Application fee and registration

A non-refundable registration fee of ₹2,00,000 plus 18% GST must be paid online. After registration, applicants must fill the application form and pay the course-wise application fee, as applicable.The application will be considered complete only after payment and final submission.

Assessment process

Applications found complete will undergo assessment by MARB. This may include:

  • Document verification
  • Physical, virtual, or hybrid inspection
  • Faculty attendance verification
  • Hospital data checks such as Outpatient Department (OPD), Inpatient Department (IPD), bed occupancy, and equipment

The commission has clearly stated that fake patient practices or incorrect information may lead to strict action, including rejection of the application and penalties.

Important note for institutions

The NMC has clarified that applications based on incomplete infrastructure or work-in-progress facilities will not be accepted.
