Mime Ramesh: Street plays spread Ambedkar ideology

Mysuru: Senior theatre personality Mime Ramesh on Saturday said street plays are one of the effective mediums to spread the ideology of national leader B R Ambedkar. They can also be used to bring social changes and to raise awareness among people on various issues, he said after inaugurating street plays to promote the ideologies of Ambedkar and his social thoughts organised by Rangayana Mysuru. The plays are staged as part of the silver jubilee celebrations of Bahuroopi National Theatre Festival, in front of Dufferin Clock Tower, popularly known as Chikka Gadiyara, here. Speaking on the occasion, MCC environmental engineer Mythri expressed her concern that a large number of youths and students are using social media excessively. “This is leading to a decline in studies and a rise in mental and health issues. Youth and students must watch street plays, understand the messages, and adopt the thoughts and themes in lives,” she said. Rangayana Mysuru director Satish Tiptur too spoke.
