Man found dead in Mandya village

Mandya: A 44-year-old man was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his ancestral home in Akkammanakoppalu village of Malavalli taluk on Monday, triggering allegations of murder by the victim’s family.The deceased is Manju, a shop owner in Bannur, who lived with his wife and children.

Police said Manju travelled to Hullekala village on Sunday to attend a relative’s house-warming ceremony. When he failed to return home that night, his wife grew worried and alerted family members. The following morning, Manju’s body was discovered lying on the veranda of his ancestral house in Akkammanakoppalu. His body had severe injuries to the face, while visible marks around the neck suggested strangulation. Adding to the suspicion, his shirt and trousers were found discarded some distance away from the body, indicating a possible struggle or an attempt to destroy evidence.Family members alleged that Manju was murdered at another location and that his body was later dumped on the porch to mislead investigators. They ruled out accidental death and demanded a thorough probe into the incident. Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s brother, the local police have registered a case of suspicious death and initiated an investigation.Malavalli Rural police said they are investigating from all angles, including possible enmity. They have begun questioning relatives and locals to ascertain the circumstances leading to Manju’s death.
