Chikkamagaluru: In order to connect more with the public and respond to social life, judges were given additional responsibilities despite the pressures of judicial work, said Upa Lokayukta Justice KN Phaneendra.He was addressing the judges of the district on the role of the Lokayukta institution and the District Legal Services Authority at the district court complex here on Friday.Phaneendra stated that in 1987, district court judges were given more responsibility through the Legal Services Authority. They must visit and inspect designated places, including the police station and jail. Before the existence of the Legal Services Authority, these responsibilities did not exist, and there were abuses in the previous system. Therefore, judges are deemed suitable to handle this responsibility, he said.District and sessions Judge Rajeshwari N Hegde and District Legal Services Authority member secretary V Hanumanthappa were present.
