Mangaluru: The Indian Medical Association, Mangaluru branch, in association with medical consultants of Mangaluru branch, will organise the annual IMA–AMC Premier League–2026 Cricket Tournament on Saturday at Sahyadri Engineering College Ground, Adyar, Mangaluru.The Late Dr MV Shetty–Late Dr Chowdiah Memorial tournament will be inaugurated by former international cricketer and ICC match referee Javagal Srinath at 4pm. Pro-chancellor of Nitte Deemed University, and managing director of Tejasvini Hospital Dr M Shantharam Shetty, IMA Karnataka State Branch president Dr TA Veerabhadraiah, and MLC and chairman of Sahyadri Engineering College, Adyar, Dr Manjunath Bhandary, will be the guests of honour.Late Dr MV Shetty served as the general surgery professor at KMC Mangaluru and surgeon at Wenlock Hospital, and was the past president of the IMA Mangaluru branch. Late Dr Chowdiah served as a radiologist at Wenlock Hospital. Both were keen cricket enthusiasts and were deeply involved in cricket matches. Late Dr MV Shetty’s son, Late Dr M Ramgopal Shetty, started this annual tournament and sponsored the trophy in memory of his late father.As part of the entertainment programme, a musical night and a tiger dance will be organised.
