Govt has allocated land, Rs 1 crore for Narayana Guru building in Ponnampet: Ponnanna

Madikeri: The state govt has allocated land and sanctioned Rs 1 crore for the construction of a building in the name of Narayana Guru in Ponnampet, said Virajpet MLA and chief minister’s legal adviser AS Ponnanna.He was speaking after participating in the scholarship distribution, Pratibha Puraskar programme, organised by the Billava Samaj Seva Sangha at the Kodava Samaj Hall in Ponnampet on Monday. On the occasion, Ponnanna stressed the importance of unity in diversity.Ponnanna said after his election as MLA, leaders of the Billava Samaj Seva Sangha met him and submitted a request to the govt for land to construct the building. He subsequently met chief minister Siddaramaiah and revenue minister Krishna Byre Gowda and discussed the matter. Following these efforts, the land was allotted, and he urged the community to make proper use of it by joining hands to construct the building.Vikhyathananda Swami of the Arya Ediga Mahasamsthan Mutt, Solur, also addressed the gathering and appealed to people to contribute positively to society. He called upon everyone to dedicate a small portion of their time and earnings towards social development.During the programme, scholarships worth Rs 40,000 were distributed to students. Association president BS Leelavathi was present on the occasion.
