Extra buses, trains from Bengaluru to meet festive rush

With Deepavali travel set to peak, KSRTC will run 2,500 special buses from Bengaluru between Oct 17 and 20, with return services from Oct 22 to 26. Passengers can book tickets at KSRTC counters or through www.ksrtc.karnataka.gov.inExtra buses from Kempegowda bus station will cover destinations like Dharmasthala, Mangaluru, Hubballi, Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Hyderabad, Tirupati and Vijayawada. Mysuru Road Bus Station will operate services to Mysuru, Madikeri and Kodagu region, while Shanthinagar TTMC will handle routes to Tamil Nadu and Kerala cities like Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Ernakulam.Passengers can book tickets in advance at KSRTC counters or online at www.ksrtc.karnataka.gov.in. Similarly, South Western Railways will run several special trains: Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru-Kollam Express Special; KSR Bengaluru-Tuticorin Express Special; Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Jn Express, among others.Transformer blast triggers panicPanic broke out at Manjunathanagar in Rajajinagar Monday when a transformer exploded around 4.30pm, sending a fireball and spilling hot oil around the area. Firefighters brought the blaze under control; several two-wheelers parked near the transformer were damaged.Bescom officials said a wiring fault, possibly due to overload, may have triggered the explosion.
