Haveri: The Anna Suvidha Yojana, implemented by the department of food and civil supplies, provides doorstep ration delivery to elderly beneficiaries in the district. A total of 7,211 eligible beneficiaries were identified, with consent obtained from 247 individuals in Dec. So far, rations were delivered to 166 families, easing hardships faced by senior citizens.The scheme aims to address difficulties faced by the elderly, who often struggle to stand in line at ration shops, wait due to server issues, and travel long distances to collect 10 kg of rice.Under the scheme, announced in the last budget and implemented statewide since Dec, ration shop personnel collect consent letters from beneficiaries between the 1st and 5th of each month and deliver rations from the 6th to the 15th. They receive the usual commission plus an extra Rs 50 per household.Statewide, 2,58,154 beneficiaries have been identified and Rs 15.4 crore was allocated for doorstep deliveries.
