Bengaluru: Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) chief commissioner Maheshwar Rao directed officials of city corporations to work in close coordination to ensure effective and timely execution of development projects across the city.Chairing a progress review meeting at the Jayanagar office of Bengaluru south city corporation recently, Rao emphasised that inter-departmental coordination was key to the success of infrastructure and civic work. “If any development project spans across two or more city corporation limits, officials must coordinate with each other and ensure its timely completion,” he said. Highlighting the need for systematic work allocation, Rao instructed that duties be clearly defined at the city corporation level. “Each officer must be assigned clear responsibilities, and a system should be put in place for submitting regular progress and performance reports,” he said. Rao also stressed the importance of addressing manpower gaps within the civic bodies and directed officials to identify vacancies and submit proposals for filling them. Pushing for greater administrative efficiency, Rao called for the full implementation of the e-office system to handle all file processing and approvals. “All physical documents should gradually be converted into digital format, and proposals, approvals, and file movements must be managed through the e-office platform,” he instructed. To streamline project monitoring, Rao directed the appointment of nodal officers in each corporation jurisdiction. These officers will serve as points of contact between respective city corporations and the GBA coordination division to provide regular updates on ongoing projects. Rao reiterated that collective effort and accountability at every level were essential for the city’s development goals to be achieved efficiently.
