Attempts to establish Lingayat religion dividing society: Shirahatti Mutt seer

Hubballi: Fakir Dingaleshwar Mahaswamiji of Shirahatti Sansthan Mutt said that, as per the tradition of the Shirahatti Fakir Sansthan Math, we were given a saffron turban, white cloth, and green shawl, which are symbols of the national flag. I don’t know under whose pressure Sanehalli seer spoke about us in this way. Speaking to the reporters here on Saturday, Dingaleshwar Mahaswamiji said, “Establishing Lingayat religion is not as easy as running a drama company. ‘Basava Sanskriti Yatra’ led by SM Jamadar is misleading everyone. It is not right for Veerashaiva Lingayats, who take the name of Basavanna, to try to break up a united society. Panditaradhya Shivacharya Swami of Sanehalli and other saints should have been guided by senior seers. However, they are following a retired IAS officer who is influenced by English culture. I follow secular principles and doctrines. We have not proposed any idea of division. The seers who participated in the Basava Sanskriti Yatra should not do anything that will destroy harmony,’ he said. “Society is being torn apart in the name of Basavanna. Everyone should understand that they should unite the society,” the seer added.
