MYSURU: The members of the All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) on Monday staged a protest demanding that the academic confusion faced by undergraduate students be addressed, in front of the old DC office.AIDSO District Vice President Swathi mentioned that even though undergraduate classes started months ago across the state, there are still no guest lecturers in colleges. All govt degree colleges in the state rely on guest lecturers, and since classes are not being conducted properly, students are quite anxious. She added that this has jeopardised their academic future. The first internal exams for undergraduate students are scheduled for next month, yet lessons have not begun. The new UGC guidelines and ongoing court cases have stalled the recruitment of guest lecturers, she said.Hema, a leader, stated that the state govt is not obligated to follow the central govt’s decisions on educational matters, according to a Supreme Court directive. The state govt should adopt a clear stance that supports the educational interests of students.Bannur Narayanaswamy and others were present.
