Schools across state face delays in enrolment due to SATS portal issues

Mangaluru: A lot of schools across the state are facing issues with fresh enrolment as the option for admissions has been removed or disabled from the Student Achievement Tracking System (SATS). As a result, many new admissions are waiting for official enrolment.According to officials from SATS, the portal has not been available for fresh admissions since July 31. The platform used to track enrolment, attendance, and results, has caused major disruptions in school activities. One of the officials said that the last date for admission was July 31. Post this date, tens of admissions were received across many schools. Permission for nine new schools in the district was allowed after the portal became defunct. “The schools get admissions even after deadlines. At least two or three new admissions were received in the majority of the schools in the district. As a result of no option for enrolment in SATS, many admissions in Dakshina Kannada alone are pending. If the student is not admitted to the system, he or she will face issues in the coming days,” the official stressed.Besides the lack of an option for admission, the entire portal is facing technical issues. “It takes a long time to load a page. We assume that this is due to server issues and have been facing them for a few months. We request the govt to rectify it,” the official added.Sources from the department of education added that the govt has rolled out a SATS mobile app, which has provided some relief to ongoing issues. “Due to continuous technical issues, teachers struggled to open the SATS portal and enter data. Despite teachers repeatedly bringing this to the department’s attention, a complete solution was not provided. Now, the department has developed an app to address this issue,” a source shared. However, a teacher said that the app in some of the schools is not working due to connectivity issues. “We have to go to a place that has a network and update,” a teacher shared.GS Shashidhar, DDPI, Dakshina Kannada, said that they have taken up the issue with higher officials.
