4 students among 5 held for murder bid in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Four students and a college dropout were arrested on attempted murder charges after they allegedly stabbed a 20-year-old student and attacked his classmate.The two victims as well as the accused are from Kerala and their fight broke out over a personal issue, police said.Adithya TH, studying at an institution on Hesaraghatta Main Road, Soladevanahalli, filed a police complaint against college dropout and tattoo artist Adit TK (20) and college students Shiju Joseph (20), Asif Sahir (19), Nazal Mohammed (19), and Kevin Azi Philip (22).He claimed the accused chased him to the terrace of a residential building early Tuesday and stabbed him in the stomach. They also attacked and injured his classmate, Mohammed Sabeeth, when he tried to intervene.“We have to question them to learn the motive behind the attack. Originally, the fight broke out while celebrating Onam on the basketball ground of a nursing college campus,” a senior police officer said.The fight escalated when Adhi led the other accused and attacked Adithya with a knife. “The college authorities and others pacified us when the fight broke out on the basketball ground Monday evening. However, when we went to SS Layout, the accused confronted us and attacked with a knife. We ran to a residential building and tried to enter a friend’s room. There too, the gang arrived. I ran to the terrace, and the accused followed and stabbed me,” Adithya said in the complaint. The accused were produced before a local court Wednesday evening, which handed them over to judicial custody at Bengaluru Central Prison.
