Udupi: Karkala Rural police arrested 12 minors in connection with an alleged arecanut theft reported at Mundkur. The theft took place on Aug 23 at a farmhouse, and a case was registered under Sections 331(3), 331(4), and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A special team led by Karkala Circle inspector Manjappa arrested the accused, and police seized around 1,100 kg of arecanut worth Rs 5 lakh. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Udupi SP Hariram Shankar, additional SP Sudhakar, and ASP Harsha Priyamvada.
