Udupi: Out of a total of 68 Naxal-related cases registered in the district, 39 cases are under judicial trial, and 28 cases have been disposed of. In one case, a split charge sheet (split CC) was filed, while additional charge sheets are pending against three accused. One case is under CID investigation, said Udupi SP Hariram Shankar.He said that during the last six months, 11 Naxal accused were produced before the court in connection with these 39 cases. Charges were framed against all the accused, produced, and the cases are presently under trial.Providing details of the accused, the SP said M Vanajakshi alias Jyothi alias Kalpana, 58, from Kalasa taluk in Chikkamagaluru district, is lodged in Bengaluru jail, with charges framed in six cases. BG Krishnamurthy alias Vijay, alias Bhagat alias Sumanth alias Chethan alias Kumar,46, from Sringeri taluk, Chikkamagaluru district, is lodged in Viyyur high security prison, Thrissur, Kerala, with charges framed in seven cases.Savithri JL alias Usha alias Rajitha, 33, from Kalasa taluk, Chikkamagaluru, is lodged in the Women’s prison, Thrissur, with charges framed in two cases. Neelaguli Padmanabha, from Koppa taluk, Chikkamagaluru, is out on bail, and charges were framed in two cases. Tombattu Lakshmi alias Lakshmi Poojary alias Prema, 39, from Kundapur taluk, Udupi, is also out on bail, with charges against her in three cases.Similarly, Latha alias Mundagaru Latha alias Shyamala alias Sneha alias Lokamma, 45, from Sringeri taluk, Chikkamagaluru district, is lodged in Bengaluru jail, with charges framed in 12 cases. Mahesh alias Madhava alias John alias Jayanna alias Sannaramesh alias Varghese alias Marappa,49, from Manvi taluk, Raichur district, is lodged in Viyyur high security prison, Thrissur, Kerala, with eight cases against him.Kanyakumari alias Suvarna, from Mavinkere village, Chikkamagaluru, is lodged in Bengaluru jail, with charges framed in 10 cases. AS Suresh alias Mahesh alias Pradeep alias Tungappa alias Mahadeva alias Raju, 50, from Mudigere taluk, Chikkamagaluru district, is lodged in Kannur central prison, Kerala, with charges framed in 23 cases.Sundari alias Geetha alias Bittu alias Jenny, from Belthangady in DK district, is lodged in a Bengaluru jail, with charges in nine cases. Prabha alias Hosagadde Prabha, from Thirthahalli taluk in Shivamogga district, is presently staying at Sai old age home in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, with charges in six cases.
