Three arrested for stealing Rs 15,000 from donation boxes in Karnataka's Bantwal

MANGALURU: Three persons have been arrested for allegedly stealing money from a donation box within the Vittal police station limits. The accused have been identified as Twaheed (19), Ummar Farooq (18), and Mohammad Nabeel (18), all residents of Vittal Kasaba village in Bantwal.The complainant, D. Narayana Rao (72), a resident of Delantabettu in Kanyana, Bantwal, is the president of a place of worship. Donation boxes associated with the centre had been placed by the roadside—one near the Delantabettu School and another below the Delantabettu Church in Kanyana village, Bantwal taluk.On 26 July, when the complainant went to collect the money from the boxes, he found that unknown miscreants had broken the locks and stolen an estimated sum of Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000.Following his complaint, a case was registered at the Vittal Police Station under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
