Upa Lokayukta tells officials to help people file online applications

Mysuru: Upa Lokayukta Justice KN Phaneendra on Thursday directed officials of Mysuru district to assist people in filing online applications to enable them to receive the benefits of govt schemes and services.Chairing a district-level meeting on applications received by Lokayukta police, he stated that people should not be deprived of govt benefits simply because an online process is incomplete.About 86 complaints related to four taluks—Hunsur, HD Kote, Sarguru, and KR Nagar—were heard on the first day of the meeting at the Zilla Panchayat office. While addressing a complaint from C Nataraj of Hunsur, who reported to the Lokayukta office that he and his 86-year-old mother were deprived of civil supplies due to an unapproved online application, Justice Phaneendra intervened. Nataraj sought assistance from the Lokayukta office to obtain a ration card. Without a permanent ration card, he was unable to get an Aadhaar card and income certificate.Food and civil supplies department officials informed the Upa Lokayukta that they would prioritise the case as the window to file applications was closed. At this point, Justice Phaneendra directed deputy commissioner Lakshmikantha Reddy to find a solution. The DC immediately instructed the food and civil supplies officials to treat it as a special case and process the application. In another case, Justice he censured Hunsur taluk officials for their lackadaisical attitude in protecting govt property, despite activist CS Nagaraj bringing the encroachment of govt land to their attention.District-level officers, including ZP CEO Ukesh Kumar, commissioner of police Seema Latkar, and SP N Vishnuvardhana, were present.
