Take action against staff misbehaving with public, Upa Lokayukta directs hosp chiefs | Mysuru News

Mysuru: Upa Lokayukta KN Phaneendra on Saturday conducted a surprise visit to KR Hospital and interacted with patients and their caretakers. He visited each ward of the hospital to gather information from patients about whether they were receiving proper treatment and if the toilet and food arrangements were adequate. He inquired about X-ray scanning, blood tests, and the doctors after visiting the laboratories.During his interaction with the public, attendants of the patients complained about the D group employees who were demanding money, lack of cleanliness in the premises, toilet rooms, and abusive behaviour by the security guards and outsourcing staff of the hospital.Responding to such complaints, the Upa Lokayukta directed the dean and director of MMCRI, KR Dakshayini, and resident medical officer of KR Hospital, Nayaz Pasha, to take immediate action against such employees misbehaving with the public as well as those demanding money. The Upa Lokayukta also expressed his displeasure at the stray dog menace in the hospital premises after he saw a pack of stray dogs roaming freely. He said that he would not tolerate such activities and the lack of cleanliness in the hospital.RMO Nayaz Pasha requested the Upa Lokayukta to recommend to his higher-ups to take action against D Group staff and outsourcing staff as many of them were working for nearly 30 years, and they are helpless to initiate action against them as most of them were recommended by influential people in the society. If the govt gives more power to the MMCRI dean and director, RMO of KRH, then such staff will be sacked if they are found involved in dereliction of duty, misbehaving with public, or failing to maintain cleanliness. The Upa Lokayukta also asked the staff to speak politely with patients and attendants taking care of them, as well as to stop using abusive, harsh words. He cautioned that he would recommend serious action against the staff if they failed to ensure proper services to patients and maintain cleanliness, should such complaints repeat in the hospital, as the majority of the patients who receive treatment are poor people. He also asked the dean and director of the hospital to list the problems, demands, and requirements of the hospital by writing a letter to him, which would help him to recommend to state govt, highlighting the issues.Deputy commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy and zilla panchayat CEO S Ukesh Kumar were present.
