SRS activist among three held for mixing poison in school water tank

Belagavi: Savadatti police have cracked the case of mixing poison into the drinking water tank of a govt Kannada primary school in Hulikatti a fortnight ago. One of the three arrested, Sagar Patil, is the president of Savadatti taluk Sri Ram Sene (SRS).Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Belagavi SP Bhimashankar Guled said the school headmaster was from a minority community. The trio — Sagar, Krishna Madar, and Magangouda Patil — mixed poison with the tank water as they thought the headmaster gets transferred after the poison-laced water acted on children. The accused had mixed poison 15 days ago, which resulted in 11 students falling ill, leading to their hospitalisation. Sagar is said to be the mastermind in the case. He involved Krishna Madar in his plan, threatening him that he would make public his love affair involving a girl from another community if he did not cooperate. Sagar also brought poison from Munavalli village and got it mixed it with the tank water through one of his relatives, a student from the same school. All the accused are remanded to judicial custody, the SP added.
