Single-window clearance system for Gauri-Ganesha festivities in Bengaluru | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is set to introduce a single-window clearance system across its 75 zonal offices to simplify the process of obtaining permissions for the upcoming Gauri-Ganesha festival. This initiative aims to make it easier for devotees to acquire the necessary permissions for festival celebrations, ensuring a hassle-free experience.The announcement was made by BBMP chief commissioner Maheshwar Rao during a meeting focused on maintaining peace and harmony during the festivities. Under the new system, committees will be established at each zonal office. These committees will include officials from BBMP, police department, Bescom, and the fire and emergency services, serving as one-stop centres for all festival-related permissions.In addition to streamlining the permission process, the civic agnecy has also planned for safe and systematic immersion of Ganesha idols. Designated immersion points will be set up at major lakes, and mobile immersion units will be available in various wards to facilitate the process.The chief commissioner stressed the importance of celebrating the festival in an environmentally friendly way, urging citizens to avoid using idols that could harm the environment. He also said all public concerns would be addressed promptly.Bengaluru city police commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh discussed measures to ensure peaceful celebrations, including traffic management and public safety. He encouraged the public to follow guidelines to prevent congestion and ensure smooth processions.During the meeting, public suggestions included requests to ban DJ systems, ensure timely road repair, and increasing police presence in sensitive areas. The BBMP and police department are committed to addressing these concerns to ensure a harmonious festival season.
