Madikeri: Rainfall picked up in parts of Kodagu district, mainly Madikeri taluk, which is the Cauvery catchment area, on Friday.While Madikeri city experienced chilly weather with intermittent rainfall, Madikeri taluk has recorded 2,800 mm of rainfall so far this year. Meanwhile, a house wall collapsed at Chennayyana Kote village due to heavy rainfall on Thursday night. Luckily, the family escaped unhurt.A 3-year-old boy was injured after a line house of a coffee plantation caved in. Arjun, son of Sukul Mauli, a worker from Jharkhand who lives in a line house of the coffee plantation belonging to a private company in Karadigodu village near Siddapur, was playing inside the house when the wall of the house suddenly collapsed. The boy was rescued by his parents. A tree fell on the road near Gadde Halla on the National Highway in Suntikoppa due to heavy showers, disrupting traffic for some time. Electricity poles were also damaged as the tree branches fell on the electricity lines. Meanwhile, the electricity poles were uprooted due to rain in Nariyandada gram panchayat area, causing power problems and leaving the villages in the dark.
