People of Bengre demand KSRTC bus service | Mangaluru News

Mangaluru: The demand for a bus service in Bengre, located in Kasaba region of Mangaluru taluk situated between a river and the sea, has been longstanding. Residents often rely on ferries to reach Mangaluru city and other places. There is a direct road connection to Kuloor, providing access to the city via the national highway. However, currently, only one private bus operates from Bengre to Bajpe, making a few trips in the morning and evening. Residents, led by the CPI(M) Bengre area committee, submitted a memorandum to Rajesh Shetty, senior divisional controller of KSRTC, Mangaluru division, seeking more bus services to Bengre.“There is a longstanding demand for a bus service in Bengre area. The locals lack adequate and timely bus service. The limited service of a single private bus is insufficient. There is a growing need for a govt bus service for the residents of Thota Bengre, Kasaba Bengre, and Tannirbhavi areas. Additionally, many tourists visit the beaches in the Bengre region, and numerous fishermen and workers come to this area for work,” said CPI (M) Mangaluru City south committee member Teyyub Bengre. In this context, he said, there is a need for a govt bus service from Thota Bengre, passing through Kasaba Bengre, Tannirbhavi, Kulur, Kottara, Lal Bagh Kottara, and MCC to the DC’s office and railway stations. Moreover, govt buses are needed to connect this area to other regions. The govt should provide free travel facilities to women and female students in the area, he said.
